Commercial Office Building Basement Office Floods from Sump Pump Failure
This water loss was from a sump failure at a commercial property in Madison, Wisconsin. Due to the sump failure, water affected roughly 80% of this basement level office. We extracted the water from the carpet and removed the vinyl base trim to dry the walls.
Most businesses and houses with sump pumps rely on the pump to keep the basement from flooding. When rain storms comes through, sump pumps are direly needed.
Often, when storms hit, power lines are also hit and power outages occur. This unfortunately leads to a sump pump failure because the sump pump disabled from lack of power and causes water to back-up and basements to flood.
Sump pumps need to be maintained and checked to make sure they are working properly. Some pump manufacturers recommend the pump to be run every 2-3 months. Some recommend a yearly program completed just before the rainy season hits.
