Sump Pump Failure in Verona, WI

This basement in Verona, WI, had a sump pump failure which resulted in a completely flooded basement with 2-4 inches of standing water. In addition to the sump failure, outside flood water entered into this basement.  Flood water is category 3, also known as "Black" or contaminated water. 

This water is grossly unsanitary and could cause severe illness or death if ingested, and any contact should be avoided. Sources for category 3 water could include flooding from rivers or streams, water from beyond the toilet trap, water from the toilet bowl with feces, or standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.

With all category three water, all carpet and flood-cutting are required. This basement in Verona had all carpet, pad and the drywall was flood-cut.  SERVPRO of Dane County West was also responsible for the rebuild, which included repairing the flood-cut drywall, painting and re-carpeting.
